How long does therapy take?
The length of therapy varies based on individual goals and concerns. Short-term therapy may last 6–12 sessions, while long-term therapy can extend for several months or more.

What happens in a therapy session?
Sessions involve open discussions about your concerns, exploring thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and working on coping and healing strategies. The approach depends on your personal needs. The first session or two is dedicated to collecting your history and learning more about the challenges you wish to overcome.

Is psychotherapy and counselling covered by insurance?
Many extended health benefits plans cover psychotherapy and counselling, but coverage varies. It’s best to check with your provider to confirm whether services from a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and RCC/CCC Pending are included.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?
No, a doctor’s referral is not required to see a psychotherapist, but some insurance plans may request one for reimbursement. Please check with your respective insurance provider.

Why does “(Qualifying)” appear after the title Registered Psychotherapist?
The (Qualifying) designation means that a therapist has met the academic and training requirements to practice psychotherapy and is in the process of completing additional requirements, such as clinical supervision and the registration exam, to become a fully Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Qualifying therapists are legally allowed to provide psychotherapy services while working under supervision.

What does it mean when a counsellor is awaiting their RCC and CCC designations?

A counsellor who is awaiting their designation as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), means they have have met the educational, ethical, and clinical training requirements to practice counselling within British Columbia and will soon be listed as a fully registered RCC on the BCACC registry (typically within 16 weeks of applicaiton).Clients will still receive the highest quality care, but insurance reimbursement or referrals may depend on the designation being finalized.

The Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) accreditation is issued by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and is a national certification indicating the counsellor has met specific academic and practicum standards and agrees to follow CCPA’s Code of Ethics.

What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)?
CBT is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours to improve emotional well-being. It is grounded in the idea that our perceptions and interpretations of situations—rather than the situations themselves—significantly influence how we feel and respond. CBT helps individuals identify and challenge unhelpful or distorted thinking patterns, replace them with more balanced perspectives, and develop healthier coping strategies.

Does your clinic only do CBT?

While CBT is one of the foundational approaches we use and is reflected in our clinic's name, we are not limited to CBT. Our clinicians draw from a range of evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs, including person-centered therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and more. Our goal is to meet you where you are and use the most effective tools to support your healing and growth.

Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is confidential, with some legal exceptions (e.g., risk of harm to yourself or others, child abuse, or a court order). We will review confidentiality in the first session.

What are your fees, and do you offer sliding scale pricing?
Our fees range from $150 by practioner. A sliding scale is available, if required.

Can therapy be in-person versus online?
Please check with your practioner to inquire as to whether in-person options exist.

How do I book an appointment?
Booking an appointment is simple and convenient. You can schedule a session anytime using our online booking tool, which allows you to choose a time that works best for you. If you have any questions before booking, feel free to reach out via email or phone.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
A 24-hour cancellation policy is in place—if a session is cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, the full session fee will be charged. This policy helps ensure that appointment times remain available for those who need them. However, it is understood that emergencies can arise, and clients are encouraged to reach out if an unexpected situation prevents attendance.
